When the producer becomes a service provider
In a 'Product-as-a-Service' business model, the customer no longer buys the machine itself, but pays monthly for an all-inclusive service package. The producer becomes a manufacturing service provider and uses the digital transformation to leverage open sales potentials. The project aims at developing and questioning business models for the medium-sized industry that meet the challenges of digital servicing.
For this purpose, an inventory and a conceptual differentiation from related constructs is carried out. Current case studies are identified and evaluated in an explorative market research process. If successful, the resulting findings are systematically prepared for practical and scientific transfer. After project completion, a profitable advance within industrial research can be expected. Quantitative methods will subsequently be useful and possible in order to understand cause-effect relationships and situation-specific factors.
