Automatic evaluation and monitoring of Safety & Security properties for Intelligent Technical Systems (AutoS²)
Reconfiguring production plants safely
In the course of Industry 4.0, essential technological prerequisites for production facilities based on Self-X technologies (self-optimisation, self-configuration, artificial intelligence) have already been created. In industrial practice, however, these are only used very cautiously so far.
A major reason for this is that a free reconfiguration of a production plant always requires a new safety assessment. The associated analyses and certifications are complex and are currently performed manually by experts. The increase in efficiency and time savings that would basically be possible with Self-X technologies for reconfiguration are immense.
In the project, mechanisms are being developed with which companies can automatically examine the safety of their machines and plants. The data required for this will be converted into machine-readable semantics and analysed by an algorithm, which is expected to reduce the costs of safety assessment and monitoring by up to 70 percent. The solution will be submitted to various standardisation committees and made available to small and medium-sized companies.
