15 September 2020 - Six new projects for the Leading-Edge Cluster it's OWL

13 projects had applied in a call for proposals by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia for the further development of the Leading-Edge Cluster it's OWL. Six of them were selected by an independent panel of experts. In these projects, 17 companies and five research institutions are jointly developing approaches and solutions for the production of the future. These include software development without in-depth programming knowledge, new methods of human-machine interaction, the optimisation of industrial processes and new sensor technologies. The projects, which are expected to start in March 2021, have a total volume of 9.2 million euros. The State of NRW plans to support the projects with funds of up to 4.9 million euro.

Southeast Asia has remained a bright spot with ASEAN; poised for a 4.5 per cent real GDP growth in 2021. ASEAN’s growth is expected to accelerate with the implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), which will create the world’s largest trading bloc comprising about 30 per cent of global GDP and about a third of the world’s population.

it's OWL is supporting the German Singapore Business Forum through its initiative Stratosfare. The initiative 'Stratosfare' closes the gap between start-ups and established companies with the so-called 'Venture Client Model'. Companies become early customers (so-called clients) of the start-ups, who can apply their technology to the products, processes or business models of the established business models of the established company. The initiative acts as its own global brand and organizes the entire process of the model for it's OWL companies. Start-ups are centrally sought in the most important high-tech hotspots worldwide and presented to the it's OWL companies.

The Asia-Pacific Committee of German Business (APA) and Enterprise Singapore (ESG) jointly present Germany Singapore Business Forum Connect: Manufacturing and Innovation in Southeast Asia.  This 2-hour virtual event will start with a spotlight on the manufacturing landscape in Southeast Asia, and the investment and partnership opportunities open to German manufacturing companies in the region. In the second hour, German corporates will share on their specific innovation interests and the co-innovation opportunities open to Singapore companies.
