5 June 2019 - From Paderborn to Asia
Two start-ups from the garage33 think tank in Paderborn were able to gain a foothold in the Far East this month. COMPUTEX in Taipei is the largest leading trade fair for electronics in Asia. With their innovative software products, the young entrepreneurs from AMendate and Unchained Robotics attracted great interest from the industry in the Asian market.
Not much time has passed since the two inventor teams were last able to present their products to an international audience: At the Hannover Messe in April 2019, both presented their innovations in cooperation with the Leading-Edge Cluster it's OWL. The organisers of COMPUTEX also became aware of the two teams and invited them at short notice to participate with their own stand at the largest trade fair for information and communication technology in Asia.
Asia's relevance as a growing market cannot be denied even to young companies: AMendate is developing software that quickly and automatically generates bionic lightweight geometries for 3D printing. Unchained Robotics is developing an artificial intelligence-based control system for robots used in electronics manufacturing. Both specialties are flourishing in Asia at the moment. As the only German startups at COMPUTEX, the trade fair presence is particularly relevant for the two young companies from Paderborn. Together with the Leading-Edge Cluster it's OWL, which supported the two teams at this event, they self-confidently drew attention to OstWestfalenLippe inventions and their products: "OWL is already known nationwide for intelligent technical systems. We have now been able to show in Asia as well that further trend-setting technologies can be expected from this region - especially from young entrepreneurs like us," says Dr. Gereon Deppe, one of the founders of AMendate GmbH.
"Our suitcases are full of new contacts and business approaches from Asia. Many companies are also looking for innovative solutions to the challenges they face in their day-to-day business, especially with us startups. This quickly leads to interesting connections," concludes Mladen Milicevic from Start-up Unchained Robotics, summing up the trade fair in Taipei.
The exhibition was a complete success for both startups. In addition to new contacts to international startups, further progress was made in building up a network of customers and partners, particularly in Asia.
With its software, AMendate can design products more easily, with less energy and material consumption, and automates the previously manually laborious process so that such optimal geometries can be created and used quickly and easily. Unchained Robotics, on the other hand, is based on more efficiently designed production: Using intelligent and automatically learning image evaluation, robots can be used flexibly for different products - without a great deal of programming effort and set-up time. Both startups currently have their offices in the Paderborn incubator garage33.
