ARISE - Artificial Intelligence for Production Planning and Control
Artificial intelligence (AI) offers great potential in the industrial environment. This German-Canadian research project aims to develop a procedure for planning and implementing AI in production based on concrete industrial use cases. Learn more.

its3DL - Deep-Learning in Robotik und 3D-Computer Vision
Advanced machine learning algorithms, including Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) or Deep Learning, have revolutionised robotics over the last decade. The aim of the German-Canadian research project is to develop a framework that integrates deep learning into distributed intelligent systems. Fields of application are industrial robotics and 3D computer vision, whereby three concrete use cases of industrial automation are considered. Learn more

EASY - Embedded Artificial Intelligence for Production Systems
Technical products are becoming more independent, flexible and capable of action due to the increasing integration of information and automation technology. In this project, Fraunhofer IEM is working with düspohl Maschinenbau GmbH and encoway GmbH to develop Machine Learning (ML) algorithms for Embedded and Edge Devices that can be run in a decentralized manner. Boost 4.0 - Big Data for Factories
How can production data be utilised to predict and prevent machine failure? In the Leading-Edge Cluster it’s OWL, BENTELER and Fraunhofer IEM are working together on a pilot factory where predictive maintenance methods and tools are implemented in order to answer this question. The research collaboration in OstWestfalenLippe is part of the EU project BOOST 4.0. Learn more

Secure IoT
SecureIoT is a project and a joint effort of global leaders in IoT services and IoT cybersecurity to secure the next generation of dynamic, decentralised IoT systems, through implementing a range of predictive IoT security services. it's OWL serves as dissemination partner and cluster partner provide practical use cases. The European Commission initiated the establishment of a European Advanced Manufacturing Support Centre to help SMEs assess the possibility of adopting both advanced manufacturing solutions as well as social innovation strategies thereby transforming their organisation towards next-generation factories with more competitive, modern and sustainable production. We are joining forces with our partner EffizienzCluster LogistikRuhr in order to make project results and services available to German SMEs. Learn more

itsowl-EA - Innovation Competences in AI
In the project itsowl-EA, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Leading-Edge Cluster it's OWL develops a strategy-driven cooperation model together with the innovation region Canada, particularly British Columbia, to answer the question "How can technology networks cooperate strongly and goal-oriented to reach global top positions?"
