Innovation regions are working on effective AI

In the project itsowl-EA, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Leading-Edge Cluster it's OWL develops a strategy-driven cooperation model together with the innovation region Canada, particularly British Columbia, to answer the question "How can technology networks cooperate strongly and goal-oriented to reach global top positions?"

Against the background of the technology area "Industrial Artificial Intelligence", complementary innovation competencies are being developed and expanded. Canada, an important partner in science, possesses decisive capabilities in this field, making it a partner “at eye level”. Connecting renowned industrial and scientific partners from both countries enables the development of innovative solutions in the field of intelligent technical systems and particularly, artificial intelligence.

As both Germany and Canada engage in the transfer of research results into industrial application, the project itsowl-EA considers itself to be practically oriented and industry-driven. In the project a specific emphasis is on the inclusion of small and medium-sized enterprises. As SMEs rarely participate in international innovation networks, they can benefit from the internationalization efforts by the Leading-Edge cluster it’s OWL. The project itsowl-EA and in particular the targeted integration of SMEs unlock key potentials for sustainable innovation growth in the region of OstWestfalenLippe.
